Barbara Nelson (Pendleton) is an award winning singer and guitarist versed in a variety of western music. In 2013, the Academy of Western Artists named Nelson "Female Western Singer of the Year" and presented her with the Will Rogers Award.

Bio

Award-winning singer and guitarist Barbara Nelson performs a wide variety of western music, from traditional, blues, folk, and old standards to swing. A horse lover and rider since childhood, she grew up loving the cowboy movies and songs of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. In 2013, the Academy of Western Artists named Nelson "Female Western Singer of the Year" and presented her with the Will Rogers Award. The Western Music Association has twice nominated Nelson’s recordings for "CD of the Year", and Western Way Magazine listed her last album, “Crazy Western Swing,” in its top 10 picks. Nelson has performed in a variety of venues, including the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Ellensburg's Spirit of the West, the Western Music Association Showcase in Albuquerque, and at the Arts Center and Cattle Baron’s Weekend in Pendleton. Barbara Nelson and her husband, Nels, live on a ranch near Pendleton, Oregon where they have raised kids, cattle, sheep, wheat, and horses.

Barbara has performed at the Western Folklife Center's “National Cowboy Poetry Gathering”, Ellensburg's “Spirit of the West”, and Western Music Association showcase.
