Bio

With degrees in graphic design and industrial design, as well as being a journeyman boilermaker/welder, Tom Herrera uses his skills to craft art pieces that reflect his whimsical sense of humor. His art is often functional, utilizing various types of recycled metals. Herrera enjoys collaborating with other artists to incorporate ceramics and fused glass into his art, and has recently begun to introduce musical elements into his work as well. The garden surrounding his studio and home on Mosier Creek serve as a show room for his work. Displaying his art in this manner serves to give potential clients a better idea of what the finished product may look like. Most of Herrera’s work is done on commission, although he occasionally creates fine art for shows. His art has been featured at the Columbia Arts Center in Hood River and on the Hood River Big Art Walking Tour. Herrera also has two piece in the permanent collection at the Maryhill Museum of Art.
