Miranda Coleman (Eugene) is a Ukrainian American dancer from Keizer, Oregon. Coleman does traditional dances from different regions of Ukraine, performing in Oregon and internationally.
Bio
Coleman’s great-great-grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from Ukraine, first settling in North Dakota, and then moving to Oregon. Growing up in a family that cherished their Ukrainian heritage, Coleman had Ukrainian traditions instilled into her from an early age, such as pysanka (decorating Easter eggs), Ukrainian food, and dancing.
Coleman started learning Ukrainian dance from her mother and uncle, who also did Ukrainian dance since childhood. From the age of 5, Coleman was involved in the Veselka Ukrainian dance camp in Springfield and the Stepovi dance camp in Dickinson (North Dakota) every summer. She went on to compete at Canada's National Ukrainian Festival in Manitoba, winning gold in both of her solos. Together with the Veselka Dance group, Coleman continues to perform at the annual Ukrainian Day in Springfield, the Scandinavian festival in Junction City, and the Ukrainian Day in Portland.
