Mic Crenshaw (Portland) is a world-class MC, a poetry slam champion, and a respected hip-hop artist around the northwest. A former member of the Portland-based group Hungry Mob, Crenshaw currently acts as Political Director for the Hip Hop Congress and the Lead U.S. Organizer for the Afrikan Hip Hop Caravan.

Michael “Mic” Crenshaw is one of the most respected hip-hop artists in the Northwest. A world-class MC and poet, he is also prominent on the national and international scene as a performer and community activist. Based in Portland, Crenshaw was born on the south side of Chicago and reared both there and in Minneapolis. Beginning in 1994, Crenshaw performed as the front man for the beloved Portland live hip-hop group, Hungry Mob. In 2001, he won the Portland Poetry Slam Championship and went on to finish as a national finalist. In 2009, Mic released his debut solo CD, "Thinking Out Loud," which spent 10 weeks in the top 10 on College Music Journal's (CMJ) National Radio Hip Hop Charts, peaking at number 4. Crenshaw is currently recording music for his 3rd solo album, releasing the first single, “Superheroes' ft. Dead Prez,” peaked at #2 on Rapattacklives.com singles chart. Crenshaw formed the company Globalfam after attending a conference in Rwanda. Through Globalfam and the not-for-profit WithOutBorders (EWOB), Mic has been involved in creating a computer education center in Burundi. EWOB also helps education, music, and art initiatives in Portland and serves as an umbrella for the Portland Books For Prisoners chapter. Crenshaw is currently the Political Director of Hip Hop Congress and the Lead U.S. Organizer for Afrikan HIpHop Caravan.
