John Krueger

Fly Tying and Fly Fishing

John Krueger (Klamath Falls) is a 2nd-generation fly tyer. A member of the Klamath County Fly Casters, he has been making flies and fly fishing for over 25 years. Krueger teaches workshops at the Running Y Ranch and through Time Flies Outfitters.

Bio

A former resident of Las Vegas, fly-tier John Krueger has been fly fishing and tying flies since 1988. He began tying his first flies when he was 18 and enjoyed fishing with his dad. Now at home in Klamath Falls, John loves to teach others. The best thing about tying flies, he says, is "getting it right" for the style of fishing, the relaxation of tying, and the overall artistry involved. John keeps meticulous boxes of neatly-tied flies of all sizes and kinds, which he uses on the Klamath Basin's rivers and lakes. He always takes a large collection of flies with him when he goes fishing, and a part of the process is experimenting with which type and which size of fly will work in that day's conditions. A member of the Klamath Country Fly Casters, Krueger teaches classes and workshops to interested fly tiers at the Running Y Ranch, where he also lives, and through his business, Time Flies Outfitters.
